A story: I’ve got a couple of friends who are serious foodies. He’s a longtime chef who has worked in some of the most important kitchens in town; she’s a front-of-house manager who can tell you a silverware brand from across the room. Where do they go when they want to treat themselves? Favor Café. Better fried chicken can not be found in the Twin Cities, the banana pudding is extraordinary and the collards are tastier than so-and-so’s mama’s. No, really, they are. And you’ll have to wait (which is a good thing) because everything is made from scratch—none of this par-cooking this and holding that warm, which is par for the course at “finer” establishments. They’ve got a full bar, which is really nice, and the atmosphere is developing into something approaching date-worthy. There’s live entertainment every night from movies to jazz, and keep your eyes peeled for spoken word nights—you’ll want to have a heads up either way, depending on which side of the poetry fence you fall.

 

Legendary Hometown Talent Alexander O'Neal with special invited guest Jamecia Bennett will be performing 2 nights May 14-15 @ Favor Cafe.
